To help you choose what to see in the fest, five of our team members who are going there made their picks and chose 3 bands you shouldn\u2019t miss. Who\u2019s that stranger that goes by the initials CB? Yeah, that\u2019s our special guest <strong>Chris Brokaw<\/strong>, <strong>Codeine<\/strong>\u2019s legendary drummer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bolachas.org\/post\/24504049077\/opstimetable\">Also, don\u2019t forget to print our timetable, in case you missed it.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em><strong>Thursday, 7th June<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">You have no excuse to miss <strong>Atlas Sound<\/strong> in the first day, as they play at 19.00 and there is no overlapping Thursday night. Did you see Deerhunter on last edition of Festival Paredes de Coura? If you did, you know that you can\u2019t miss Bradford Cox, lead-singer of Deerhunter, presenting his solo project in Portugal. Certainly he will bring us some psychedelic themes from <em>Parallax<\/em>, his latest album, as\u00a0Mona Lisa\u00a0or \u201cTe Amo\u201d, two words very familiar to Portuguese speakers. <em><strong>&#8211; RBC<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XSB0FVt5XnQ\"><strong>Atlas Sound<\/strong>, \u201cMona Lisa\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/indieblogheaven.typepad.com\/photos\/uncategorized\/2008\/06\/19\/mercuryrev.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I got sad too when Explosions in the Sky were cancelled but c\u2019mon: <strong>Mercury Rev<\/strong> are so, so huge! They are one my favorite bands ever and they almost made me cry like a little girl when I saw them play <em>Deserter\u2019s Songs<\/em> in its entirety last year in London. I don\u2019t know how the concert will be in a festival context, but every place is magic to hear themes as \u201cGoddess on a Highway\u201d or my favorite ones, \u201cTonight It Shows\u201d and \u201cEndlessly\u201d, two songs bigger than life. Mercury Rev will always make my heart beat faster and they will always bring tears to my eyes, so I truly recommend you to take the big chance of attend their concert at the end of the festival\u2019s first night. <em><strong>&#8211; RBC<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CP36YVfcjn0\"><strong>Mercury Rev<\/strong>, \u201cTonight It Shows\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>THE RAPTURE<\/strong>. SO THERE. You don\u2019t even have an excuse. Overlayed? No, anybody can (and will, I hope) see this one. Late? Oh please, how old are you? 7? 91? And even people that age wouldn\u2019t miss this. Never heard anything of them? Shit cocks, me neither! Just fucking dance already. The. Rapture. Be wet ladies. <em><strong>&#8211; BSC<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AoedK3XcoBE\"><strong>The Rapture<\/strong>, \u201cHow Deep Is Your Love?\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em><strong>Friday, 8th June<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Other Lives<\/strong> are great! One day I was checking out some artists pick at KCRW (great radio station, btw) and ended up listening their second album, Tamer Animals, a delicious, melodic and soulful journey that deserves to be heard next Friday. <em><strong>&#8211; JM<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EfnGHRVCik0&amp;ob=av2n\"><strong>Other Lives<\/strong>, \u201cTamer Animals\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Indie-rock gurus <strong>Yo La Tengo<\/strong> are coming back to Portugal. Their latest album, <em>Popular Songs<\/em>, was released in the last decade (yeah, 2009, that was some time ago, your new album is long overdue, etc) but the trio are as fresh as new. Georgie, Ira, and James are just as good as your that car that you bought last week (judging from their last show in Barcelona) and indie-rock standards as \u201cAutumn Sweater\u201d, \u201cStockholm Syndrome\u201d, \u201cTom Courtenay\u201d are expected to be heard in Porto next Friday. Hey, dudes, if you wanna make somebody in the audience happy just play your cover of \u201cCast a Shadow\u201d, which is like, 852375802375807235 times better than the original. The little bald guy jumping? That\u2019s me. &#8211;<em><strong> JFC<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hu9DnE7gTIU\"><strong>Yo La Tengo<\/strong>, \u201cThe Summer\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Working 60 miles away from the festival site is a pain in the ass. Besides not being able to attend the first day of the festival due to a strike, I\u2019ll be lucky if I can still catch <strong> The War on Drugs<\/strong> live on the Club stage. Frontman Adam Granduciel lies somewhere Bob Dylan and Springsteen and his band sounds like one of them listened to too much Can and fell in love with repetition. So stoked to see them. <em><strong>&#8211; DSS<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rMToQg0vSds\"><strong> The War on Drugs<\/strong>, \u201cBaby Missiles\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>RAFAEL TORAL<\/strong>: very psyched for this &#8211; saw him once in Boston and it was fascinating. <em><strong>&#8211; CB<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rif4Lk6Xcro\"><strong>Rafael Toral<\/strong>, \u201cAE 1\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/beatsperminute.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Codeine.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFestival\u201d. Something \u201cfestive\u201d. A \u201cparty\u201d. <strong>Codeine<\/strong> and \u201cparty\u201d in the same sentence makes as much sense as putting the words \u201cpork\u201d and \u201cvegan\u201d next to each other. But since this is the first time anyone my age is able to see the <em>slowcore<\/em> legends live, why leave them behind to see party-hard numbers Black Lips and Flaming Lips? Codeine &gt; lips. I wish I had codeine instead of lips. I wish every band in the world was as good as Codeine. <em><strong>&#8211; DSS<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HtgZyFNp2oE\"><strong>Codeine<\/strong>, \u201cPea\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shellac<\/strong> is the best live band in the world. I shit you not. I\u2019ve been to Primavera twice before (\u201809 and &#8217;10) and guess what? They gave the best concert of the festival both years. Being the resident band of the festival, you\u2019ll probably be able to see them next year if you don\u2019t next Saturday. But the question is: why wouldn\u2019t you see them every year? The answer lies just below these lines, and I\u2019ll finally go see Wilco for the first time &#8211; but I\u2019ll surely be staring at the ATP stage every single time they plays a song I\u2019m not too fond of, thinking about those incredible concerts in Barcelona. <em><strong>&#8211; DSS<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0hC044mDsWA\"><strong>Shellac<\/strong>, \u201cThe End of Radio\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.avclub.com\/images\/articles\/article\/14\/14101\/wilco-frank_ockenfels_fix_jpg_627x325_crop_upscale_q85.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In <strong>Wilco<\/strong> we trust! What else? This amazing all-star band is always a pick wherever they\u2019re playing, and despite the last two less brilliant albums we can expect the world from them. It\u2019s my debut seeing them (I know, only in 2012), but it\u2019s a fucking dream. <em><strong>&#8211; JM<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VeLOinc0XKw\"><strong>Wilco<\/strong> &#8211; \u201cShe\u2019s a Jar\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Black Lips<\/strong> and <strong>Thee Oh Sees<\/strong> have a lot in common. Well, maybe they don\u2019t. But I\u2019m pretty sure they share the same influences. If Black Lips are a bit more of drunk, rock-n-roll, crowdsurfing type, with The Oh Sees being a tad more raw, minimalist sometimes, \u00a0and the other times just drawing Pollock into sounds, these are both shows you can\u2019t miss. And you know what? They\u2019re all playing Friday. Their dream shoegazing pop (wtv) really makes me feel in a trip repositioning the moon and the stars on my very own aircraft, and I\u2019ll be very pleased to listen any of new album <em>Bloom<\/em>\u2019s tracks. <em><strong>&#8211; JM<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Bv7IcjmxjGo\"><strong>Beach House<\/strong>, \u201cMyth\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em><strong>Saturday, 9th June<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I already wrote about 3 bands. I\u2019m assuming you all know <strong>Spiritualized<\/strong> is one of the best bands in the world. I\u2019m not going to write more than two lines about it, I just wanted to remind you of that. <em><strong>&#8211; DSS<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DBIbTqKHPow\"><strong>Spiritualized<\/strong>, \u201cCome Together\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Let yourself have an electronic shoegaze moment Saturday night with <strong>I Break Horses<\/strong>, a band composed by two Swedish hypochondriacs who met themselves in 2008 in an online medical forum that both used to visit. They just added synthesizers, guitars and some voices to their health-paranoia and released <em>Hearts<\/em>, their first album, last year. I hope that they play\u00a0<em>Winter Beats<\/em>, the only winter-thing that I wish to this almost summer festival. <em><strong>&#8211; RBC<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-Sg7YkPnEYw\"><strong>I Break Horses<\/strong>, \u201cWinter Beats\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>JAMES FERRARO AND THE BODYGUARD<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0 I am a huge fan of his records, tapes, CD-r\u2019s &#8211; this is the one show I am really sad to miss\u2026 <em><strong>&#8211; CB<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Xacj2zBp458\"><strong>James Ferraro<\/strong>, \u201cKiller Nerd\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net\/80450F\/diffuser.fm\/files\/2012\/06\/Afghan-Whigs.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">One of the names that I don\u2019t see many people talking about it\u2019s got to be <strong>the Afghan Whigs<\/strong>, and fuck this is quality: reformed last year, one of the greats of the so loved 90\u2019s, with roots on grunge but not exactly a part of the genre (maybe this is what keeps so many people away, so shove it up and go see Lee Ranaldo if you must, or some other thing), and well, given the Primavera\u2019s line-up, for sure they will save some rockers in this day. Basically a must see. Or Lee Ranaldo, that\u2019s going to be cool too. Or the other thing at the same time, can\u2019t remember what.<em><strong> &#8211; BSC<\/strong> (Note from the editor: It\u2019s the fucking Weeknd. Oh, <strong>Jeff Mangum<\/strong>, right. It\u2019s Neutral Milk Hotel, whatever, and I totally want to be there at Casa da M\u00fasica, and I\u2019m not even a fan of NMH. In fact some songs are just pure baloney to me, but I guess that\u2019s the fun of it, at least I can take some. But, since the show will be a bit restricted to some unlucky people, I warn you to move instead to Hard Club, at the Ribeirinha zone and go check some cool dudes called <strong>You Can\u2019t Win, Charlie Brown<\/strong>.
