I\u2019ve seen them twice and both shows were almost completely different; one never knows what to expect. Surf rock? Persian music? Grindcore? All of the above? One of the best live bands on Earth right now.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p><a name=\"more\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/viviangirlsnyc\">VIVIAN GIRLS<\/a><\/strong> seem to dig Portugal so much that they\u2019re back after playing last year\u2019s Paredes de Coura festival (and a show in Lisbon on early 2011). The cute NY trio will be in Barcelos to make you dance, but try not to sweat, though; that\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Hgf6jkp8bwQ\">Snoop Dogg<\/a>\u2019s department.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/tigrala\">TIGRALA<\/a><\/strong> is a trio composed of Norberto Lobo (possibly the best disciple of the legend Carlos Paredes), Guilherme Canh\u00e3o (half of Lobster and part of Sunflare) and the Mexican Ian Carlo Mendoza. Instrumental, contemplative music opening the day on the big stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/manlikeme\">Man Like Me<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/causasui\">Causa Sui<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kafka-musik.pt.vu\/\">Kafka<\/a> will also play the main stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">VICE STAGE<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/zuband\">ZU<\/a><\/strong> is not a band, it\u2019s a force of nature. These Italians from hell, who worked with the likes of Mike Patton (and released their latest album, \u201cCarboniferous\u201d on his Ipecac) and David Tibet (Current 93) can rock without using a single guitar; the rhythms imposed by those drums, bass and sax will most likely make you sweat (sorry, Snoop).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boblog111.com\/\">BOB LOG III<\/a><\/strong> real? The one-man band from Tucson, Arizona brings the deepest and sharpest American sound to Barcelos. Expect beer being thrown around, ladies sitting on his legs, someone updating the Wiktionary page for the word \u201cBoss\u201d on his smartphone with a picture of this dude.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">South Floridan Mike Diaz is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/millionyoungmusic\">MILLIONYOUNG<\/a><\/strong>, electro-pop bliss before sundown. \u201cReplicants\u201d will most likely be the hymn of this year\u2019s edition of the fest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/antipopny\">ANTI-POP CONSORTIUM<\/a><\/strong> will be representing hip-hop music. Regarded as one of the most inventive acts of the genre, and after some years on hiatus, they\u2019ll be presenting their latest effort, \u201cFluorescent Black\u201d on the Vice stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Also on the Vice stage: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/kimkio\">Kim Ki O<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Matanza\/194236353947902\">Matanza<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/rnrrodas\">Rodas<\/a> (DJ set).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">L&amp;L STAGE<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/bikinibeach\">BIKINI BEACH BAND<\/a><\/strong> is the main attraction of the day on the Lovers and Lollypops stage, placed on the banks of the river C\u00e1vado. It was announced that they\u2019ll play for three straight hours and I dare anyone not to stay during all the gig. Coolest covers band ever? I\u2019d book them for my wedding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Also on the Lovers and Lollypops stage: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/karmatoburn\">Karma to Burn<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/indignu\">Indignu<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">POOL STAGE<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/makaronisound\"><strong>MKRNI<\/strong><\/a> is an electronic act from Chile that promises to bring that spicy South American flavor to this small town that they forgot to close down near the Portuguese northern shore.
