[vid] Jacob Faurholt, “The Hoax”

Lovely new vid for “The Hoax”, one of the songs off Jacob Faurholt’s latest album, “Dark Hours”, which you can stream on his Bandcamp. Speaking about “dark” stuff, Nona Marie Invie from Dark Dark Dark sings with the Danish songwriter on this song. How can you not love it? Obligatory for those who like their folk music whispered, quiet, with sparse instrumentation.

[full download] GCDayer, “Nail on the Head” (2011)

Portuguese Beatles-lover, non-hipster, pretty-decent-songwriter Gustavo Caldeira is back with his brand new album, “Nail on the Head”. Great thing about it: since he’s a Bolachas lover, he’s distributing it for free to our readers. You can find a download link to both “Nail on the Head” and his previous album “Say Don’t – Look What!” right after the tracklist. If you live in the UK, you’re lucky: he’ll be playing the island for the first time in November: 07/11 at Nambucca, London, and 25/11 at The Constitution, Camden.

[full download] Lizard Kisses, “Tiny Island Teeth” (2011)

New release on our Cakes and Tapes, this time from Brooklyn’s pop darlings Lizard Kisses. Please support us by downloading, spreading the word and/or buying the limited edition cassette! Head on to Cakes and Tapes’ website to learn more about them.

Lizard Kisses is a boy-girl duo based in Brooklyn, NY, consisting of Cory Siegler and Marc Merza. Their slow, dreamy pop tunes sound like anything you love, but drenched in honey. We hope you like honey. Even if you don’t, you’ll still love them. If you have a something beating deep in your chest that, even vaguely, resembles a heart, that is.

[full streaming] Tasseomancy, “Ulalume”

The new album from Toronto’s female duo Tasseomancy (ex-Ghost Bees) has just come out. Drawing (pretty decent!) influences from European neofolk, Ulalume happens to be eerier, denser and even darker than their first album. Also, it’s spookier than your favorite horror movie and will definitely haunt you as you dive into its entrails. The Line of Best Fit has Ulalume up on their Soundcloud account so you can check it before you buy the limited edition candle (yeah, you’re right – it’s a candle! with matches!), or, if you’re not a fan of wax and fire, there’s of course a cd/vinyl edition on Out Of This Spark.
