No Sleep till Barcelos – Day 3

MILHÕES STAGE

For many, ELECTRELANE are the main attraction of this year’s edition of the festival. Coming back for a few select dates in Europe some years after breaking up, the four girls from Brighton will still be presenting their latest album, 2007’s “No Shouts, No Calls”.

WASHED OUT, one of the most relevant buzzbands of the last couple of years has just released his first LP (after a couple of EPs) “Within and Without” on Sub Pop. He will make his Portuguese debut on the main stage of the last day of the festival.

RADIO MOSCOW closes the last day on the festival’s main stage. Blues-tinged rock that instantly claims another beer.

PAPA TOPO is the sweetest band on the lineup. Adrià and Paulita, the balearic duo known for their highly addictive instant summer hits “Oso Panda” and “Lo que me gusta del verano es poder tomar helado”, will play for the first time in Portugal and we’ll be there sharing the love. Elefant Records FTW.

Portuguese acts We Trust and Dear Telephone will also play the main stage.

VICE STAGE

FOOT VILLAGE: 4 drumkits, 8 hands, 8 feet, gallons of beer flying everywhere, millions of party. I think the videos below speak for themselves.

GREEN MACHINE will play their farewell show on their hometown. All hell will most likely break loose while they play the show of their lives on the Vice stage. Until the end of the show, it’s 2006 all over again. Pure rock and roll!

The chaotic COMANECHI will be the last (proper) band playing the fest; will your eardrums be up to the challenge posed by that abrasive guitar and Akiko Matsuura’s sharp screams? Well, if you decide to crawl away, we’ll call Foice Humana to play “É só meninos” [goddamn pussies] just for you.

Also on the Vice stage: FM Belfast, Star Slinger, Secousse, Throes + The Shine.

L&L STAGE

EQUATIONS is my friend’s rock band. Go see them.

Also on the Lovers and Lollypops stage: Old Gun, Torto and Granada (DJ set).

POOL STAGE

PEGA MONSTRO is RAD! Two young sisters from Lisbon making lo-fi rock’n’roll using only a guitar and drums. Their song about the Paredes de Coura festival has some of the most memorable lyrics of the recent history of the Portuguese underground scene. AWESOME.

Also on the pool: Larkin, Nazka, Narwhal and Secousse.

On the SWR Stage: LÖBO and Burbujeria.
