Brand new video from the Silver Series, a SXSW collab between Invisible Children, Friends With Both Arms, La Blogotheque et al. 25 bands were filmed performing in a park during the last SXSW week. FWBA will be posting more videos from these sessions soon, and we’ll re-post our favorites. This one’s from sweet folkies Wye Oak, swayin’ on a swingset as they played the song Holy Holy, from their latest album, Civilian, out now on City Slang. You can also listen to the studio version of the song on the SC widget below.

There must be something in the water: in the last couple of months, the Lisbon area seems to be spawning the best post-post-post-post-rock.. oh well, let’s just call it “instrumental rock” acts in the whole continent. After uppercasers SAUR released their debut EP earlier in the year, lowercaser marasmo follows up with yet another brilliant instrumental extended play. Unlike his counterparts from Alverca, who focus more on their guitar play, marasmo – being some sort of one-man-band – privileges drony soundscapes, reminiscent of some crossover between GY!BE member Efrim Manuel Menuck’s solo album and its own band’s music. I’m pretty sure you’ll end up digging this album if you read The Wire magazine. Stream and download (for free) below. Beautiful album cover, by the way.
[vid] Little Tybee, “Hearing Blue”
New video from Georgia’s Little Tybee, this time with a reworked, full of opulent instrumentation version of their track “Hearing Blue”. Humorous to Bees, the debut album, is now available on the amazing Paper Garden Records (Alcoholic Faith Mission, David Thomas Broughton, Emanuel and the Fear). Stream three more songs from the record below.

Some great hip-hop from Atlanta that we’ve covered earlier. Debut album freely downloadable through STSIsGOLD.com!
