#231: Blake Mills, “Mutable Set”

Blake Mills has been over the place over the past few years, including this very setlist (that’s also him on Perfume Genius’ new track). You can find him producing, playing or singing on albums such as Laura Marling’s “Semper Femina”, Dawes’ “We’re All Gonna Die”, Conor Oberst’s “Salutations”, Weyes Blood’s “Titanic Rising”… you know the drill. They’ve all been featured here. After adding some guitar tracks on Cass McCombs’ “Mangy Love” a few years back, he has now invited back the fellow Californian for some collaborative songwriting on his exquisite, brilliant new album, “Mutable Set”.

#222: Jonathan Wilson, “Dixie Blur”

Two more hours of brand new music, this time with a focus on the incredible new album Jonathan Wilson has just put out. Apparently back to his “Frankie Ray” days of some more traditional Americana via Laurel Canyon songwriting, this a record that is going to keep us busy for months. #145: Eleanor Friedberger, “Rebound”

Bolachas Now Playing, a new music Spotify playlist updated every Tuesday.

Damien Jurado’s latest record would be our album of the week – it’s one of the records of the year for us so far, go buy it – if it was on streaming platforms, but it’s not. Well, Eleanor Friedberger’s excellent “Rebound” would almost certainly have the spotlight next week, but we’ll give it the honor just a few days after release date like it should! Plus: new songs by Richard Hawley, Michael Nau, Dr. Dog, Natalie Prass, Jess Williamson, Mary Lattimore – Harpist, Jennifer Castle, Rosali, Speedy Ortiz, Parquet Courts, Protomartyr, Traveller, The Goon Sax, Leon Bridges, Dirty Projectors, Beach House, Thundercat, and Ricky Eat Acid.
