Godspeed You! Black Emperor have just released their new album, ‘ALLELUJAH! DON’T BEND! ASCEND!, the first since they got back together after almost a decade of absence, which you can listen in its entirety below. Like if that fact wasn’t celebratory enough, they’re playing yet another new song live – a 45min song appropriately named “Behemoth”. Their taper-friendly policy means everyone gets to listen to it – the full concert is available here – even if you can’t attend one of the shows on their European tour, starting next week in Porto. Full set of dates here.

HuffPost has just premiered this nostalgia-filled brand new video for Explosions in the Sky’s “Postcard from 1952” off their latest record Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. Their latest show in Portugal was (almost) exactly eight years ago, but they’re bound to return in (almost) exactly one month, playing in the first night of the Optimus Primavera Sound festival in Porto.

I Can Hear The Grass Cannons

IDIOTIC PUNS FUCK YEAH

Grass Cannons are a New Zealand band. I love New Zealand. I’ve never actually been there – I haven’t actually been ANYWHERE not in the Iberian Peninsula (I’m lying, I’ve been to Mallorca once) – but I’ve always been fascinated by Pacific nations such as NZ, Australia, even tiny little Micronesia, one of my favourite countries of all time since, as a kid, I spent hours looking at maps and atlases (not a pun, though I enjoy that band). Grass Cannons e-mailed me a while ago after I wrote about BnP in the hopes I would pay them attention, and I like it when people send me e-mails, it makes me feel all fluffy and warm inside. But I’m writing about them not because I feel I should pay them back somehow, but because I find them good enough to be here. They lean on the shoegaze side of things, with a bit of a post-rock tinge, and you can listen to them/download their EP on Bandcamp. So enjoy.
