Our favorite Plastic Flowers are back (again!) with a new song, “In You I’m Lost”, an acoustic number recorded by senselens while the band was recording their next release, which means we’ll hopefully get to listen to a proper full length by our Greek friends in the new year. The new song is somewhat even quieter than their latest output (cassettes still available on Cakes and Tapes!), a perfect fit for your cold Autumn.

You can grab the MP3 for free here.

Mac DeMarco’s second reelase of 2012, 2,  is out today on Captured Tracks. On my fav “Freaking Out the Neighborhood” he sounds like a jangly Cass McCombs on a rush, which means this will stay on repeat mode through the afternoon. Buy the new album here.

Pure Bathing Culture’s “Ivory Coast” was already one of my fav songs of 2012. Now Sean Pecknold did a pretty pretty/weird video to go along with it, which you can watch above and I just learned, while googling the band name, that the duo is actually composed by Vetiver members Daniel Hindman and Sarah Versprille. The music itself sounds like a hybrid between Vetiver’s dreamy last record and Beach House’s best moments, so now everything makes even more sense in my head. Thanks I Guess I’m Floating for the tip. Buy their debut 12" EP here

There’s so much to love about my favorite Greek band, Plastic Flowers. After releasing two EPs on our Cakes and Tapes, the always shape-shifting ambient pop duo has just put out a new single, “Empty Eyes”, through Bad Panda Records. “Empty Eyes” showcases their poppier side, which could and should be more explored by them on future releases.

Natural Conspiracy is still available for download on a pay-what-you-want basis at Bandcamp, and there’s a limited number of green cassettes still available for purchase as well. Grab it below.

Horrible Present, “Union Plaza EP”

Another solid release from the amazing pop songs crafter that is Nicola Donà, or Horrible Present. It’s not the first time we’re posting about him and certainly this won’t be the last. These four brand new songs were progressively released in the weeks leading to this release and are now available for free download as a package (grab them on Bandcamp). “April 1944” is my song of the month. I’m glad I live in the same world as Horrible Present.
