After some low-key weeks there were plenty of great new albums being released in the last couple of weeks. Joanna Newsom could be the highlight here, but she openly dislikes Spotify, so the Canadian cowboy Corb Lund takes the crown this week. Other highlights include Blitzen Trapper, Amy Speace and Beach House’s new albums (2 songs each). Listen:

This week on our playlist we bring you the new Destroyer album (who knew…), Poison Season. There’s still time for new songs by Beach House, Battles, Yo La Tengo, Disclosure, The Weeknd, FKA Twigs, Jason Isbell, Noah Gundersen, Cale Tyson, and Ryan Bingham.
On the spotlight this week: Leon Bridges and his great debut LP, Coming Home. Let’s also take a look at Aussie singer-songwriter Fraser A. Gorman’s first record and listen to new songs by Shilpa Ray, Beach House, WAVVES & Cloud Nothings, Wharfer, House of Wolves, Daniel Romano, Vince Staples, Miguel, Chris Stapleton and James McMurtry.
Pure Bathing Culture’s “Ivory Coast” was already one of my fav songs of 2012. Now Sean Pecknold did a pretty pretty/weird video to go along with it, which you can watch above and I just learned, while googling the band name, that the duo is actually composed by Vetiver members Daniel Hindman and Sarah Versprille. The music itself sounds like a hybrid between Vetiver’s dreamy last record and Beach House’s best moments, so now everything makes even more sense in my head. Thanks I Guess I’m Floating for the tip. Buy their debut 12" EP here.

Oh, festivals on weekdays. Such a pleasure for people who can’t take days off work. Thank god not everyone on the team has such problems. Still not over the fact I haven’t seen The War on Drugs, for example. Please read on…
