Aaron Frazer is best known as the drummer (and singer) for soul outfit Durand Jones & the Indications. Like so many songwriters in the past few years, he teamed up with the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and got his debut solo album, “Introducing…”, ready in no time. Bolachas Now Playing, a new music Spotify playlist, updated every Wednesday.
As the year draws to a close and the days become darker, so does our playlist. Or maybe it’s just the moody influence of our album of the week, Christian Kjellvander‘s About Love and Loving Again. Namedropping is cheating, but the veteran – although not that well-known outside of Scandinavia – Swedish singer-songwriter might be up your alley if you’re into some not so strange mix between Nick Cave and Jason Molina with a post-rocky Americana vibe.
Nathaniel Rateliff has loved and lost. It really shows on his first solo album since 2013, going back to his roots after a successful stint with his Night Sweats. Plus: new tracks by Nap Eyes, The Men, Lucinda Williams, Spanish Love Songs, U.S. Girls, Tame Impala, Tennis Music, Lala Lala, Nadia Reid, Anna Burch, Molly Burch, Miss Tess, Anna Ash, Waxahatchee, Billie Eilish, Jozef van Wissem, William Prince, Logan Ledger, Jonathan Wilson, and Khruangbin + Leon Bridges.
