Bolachas Now Playing, a new music Spotify playlist, updated every Wednesday.

We have been waiting for this one for months. After some delays, Protomartyr’s fifth album is finally out now. Our favorite contemporary post-punk band is back and it brings a bunch of guitar-heavy tracks along. Because it’s the summer and that’s how we roll when it’s warm outside. Plus: new tracks by Crack Cloud, Silverbacks, Metz, Zombi, Bully, Tiña, Asher Gamedze, Ambrose Akinmusire, Yin Yin, Future Islands, Genevieve Artadi, Kacy Hill, Wye Oak, Samantha Crain, Widowspeak, She Keeps Bees, Sylvie Simmons, Mary Lattimore, Cat Clyde, Bill Callahan, Gillian Welch, Buck Meek, Astral Swans, David Ramirez, Dogwood Tales, The Texas Gentlemen, El Michels Affair, and Dojo Cuts.

This week, on our 15-song playlist, we’ll focus on the new John Grant record, which is probably his best album to date. There are two songs off the new Saintseneca album, a band that is an old favorite of Bolachas. We hope this is their real breakthrough. Ciara, Kelela and Tinashe’s new singles are three brand new pop nuggets we can’t get enough of and, of course, you’ll find them here; look out for new songs by Zombi, Protomartyr, James Vincent McMorrow, Weyes Blood, and Daniel Martin Moore. And although we know it’s Friday and there’s no time for #TBTs or whatever people celebrate on Thursdays in 2015, check out a new version of Minta’s “Future Me” by They’re Heading West featuring Peixe and absolute classic “Such a Night”, which was just reissued along with 61 other Dr. John songs. Such a week.
