Soledad Vélez at Ritz Club 20th February (Grito Rock ’13)

Beautiful and talented, Chilean singer/songwriter, Valencia, ES based Soledad Vélez is playing tonight (February 20th) at the Ritz Club, via the Grito Rock festival along with Nice Weather For Ducks and Erica Buettner.

We’re back with a new Bolachas Session at Mercado Negro, Aveiro. This time around, we’ll host David Bazan, the gentleman behind the extinct Seattle act Pedro the Lion. In addition to his work as David Bazan (read: Curse Your Branches and Strange Negotiations, both out on Barsuk), he will play plenty of tunes from the essential PTL albums, recently reissued on vinyl. It’s his first time in Portugal. Treat this man like he deserves. Come to the show. Sam Beam, aka Iron and Wine is back with a new album, Ghost on Ghost, out April 16 on Nonesuch/4AD. “Lovers’ Revolution” is the first song taken from it and it’s jazzier than anything he has done before. Can’t say I saw this coming but on first listen it sounds fantastic. Just look at that bass. By the end of the song, I already changed my mind about what my most anticipated album of the year is.
