Pedro The Lion’s first record since David Bazan went solo after 2004’s Achilles Heel is our album of the week. Here’s to hoping an European tour is in the works: it’s been almost six years since we hosted one of the most beautiful concerts we ever promoted. Plus: new tracks by Night Beats, Ryan Bingham, Matthew Logan Vasquez, Blank Range,Strand of Oaks, Ex Hex, Cass McCombs, The Comet is Coming, Lala Lala & Why?, Alice Phoebe Lou, Tiny Ruins, Weyes Blood, Mandolin Orange, H.C. McEntire, Townes Van Zandt, Twain, Bob Sumner Music, Steve Gunn, Bonnie Prince Billy, The Wild Reeds, and Teddy and the Rough Riders.
Ok, we said we were going to hibernate for a few weeks. But then we decided to give it another go – there are still albums and songs to be released in the first few days of December, right? There are twenty more songs to be heard, so why wait until next year? This week we focus on the posthumously released final album by Willard Grant Conspiracy, almost two years after the passing of frontman Robert Fisher, plus new and recent tracks by Lambchop, Jennah Barry, Pistol Annies, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Jessica Pratt, Fog Lake, Harlem, Susto, The Decemberists, Cass McCombs, Lubomyr Melnyk, Daniel Knox, Steve Gunn, Donivan Berube, Pedro the Lion, The Cactus Blossoms, Aidan Moffat & RM Hubbert, and Angelo De Augustine.

Samson, Deer Tick, Pedro The Lion’s first song in 14 years (!), Fruit Bats, Stephen Steinbrink, Gooby Jim and the Goobs, State Champion, Ryan Downey, Julia Jacklin, Dominique Pruitt, Kim Lenz, Meg Baird and Mary Lattimore, Josephine Foster, Darren Hayman, The Wave Pictures, Mandolin Orange, Hayes Carll, J Mascis, and Sufjan Stevens.

We’re back with a new Bolachas Session at Mercado Negro, Aveiro. This time around, we’ll host David Bazan, the gentleman behind the extinct Seattle act Pedro the Lion. In addition to his work as David Bazan (read: Curse Your Branches and Strange Negotiations, both out on Barsuk), he will play plenty of tunes from the essential PTL albums, recently reissued on vinyl. It’s his first time in Portugal. Treat this man like he deserves. Come to the show. Pre-sale tickets cost only €5 (reserve your ticket by sending your info to cakestapes at gmail.com), €6 at the door, next Tuesday, February 26th. Facebook event
